The Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) recently published an article by the Pilgrim Foundation’s Jackie Daniel and Manivanh Khy on how inflation affects consistent, unrestricted grant funding.
CEP’s State of Nonprofits 2026 reported “73% of nonprofit leaders reported increased demand for their services, while 66% expressed concerns about their organization’s financial stability.” Knowing many of our partners were experiencing the same concerns, we decided to delve deeper into the power of our grants amidst inflation.
“We began asking, “Does our grant still provide the level of support we originally intended it to provide?””
This article is the culmination of our research into the power of listening to partners, adjusting for rising costs, future grantmaking considerations, and what this would mean for our international partners. As we say in the article, “the real point isn’t how much money is given, but what that money actually allows organizations to do.”
